Since Edge doesn’t allow third-party extensions in its browser, it’s difficult for most antivirus programs to warn about dangerous sites or stop malware from downloading within the browser if something sneaks past Edge’s security settings. When we came in contact with viruses that download from malicious links and files, Trend Micro didn’t let them go anywhere, completely blocking them so the download process couldn’t ever start. This is a huge plus and a feature several antivirus programs don’t have.
While giving you stellar protection, Trend Micro does use a good portion of your computer’s resources and creates noticeable slowdown. Most of the time this isn’t a problem when searching the web, posting to social media or sending email, but we experienced some drag while waiting for videos and games to load and while attaching large files to outgoing email.
